Related: About this forumRep. Boswell sues Ed Fallon over bribe claim
U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell, D-Des Moines, has filed a defamation of character lawsuit against liberal activist Ed Fallon over Fallons allegations that he was offered an $80,000-a-year job not to run against him in 2008.
The civil lawsuit was filed Friday in Polk County District Court, said Kevin McTigue, Boswells campaign manager.
Boswell aides confirmed plans to proceed with the lawsuit just minutes after Boswell finished speaking Friday morning to a candidate forum attended by about 30 people at the Greater Des Moines Partnership in downtown Des Moines.

I got a push poll from Latham yesterday. One of the poll "questions" related to this. It was something like "A political rival has claimed that a Boswell aide offered him a bribe blah blah blah. Would that make you more or less likely to vote for him or would it make no difference."
Sheesh, just what we need a month before the election.

(49,999 posts)2. I went to Fallon's blog
He's encouraging people to write in vote for former DM mayor, Frank Cownie.
Boswell may not be the perfect candidate (who is?) but I sure as hell don't want to give this seat to Latham.

With some help from the rest of the country. How did poor ED hold this in for 2 years and not 4?
