Please contact state reps about school funding
An email I just sent out about the school funding battle in Iowa:
At the Muscatine legislative forum last Senator Dvorsky passed around a flier that was a printout of this page:

Sorry I can't post it in here, it comes out dark blue
Our legislators are asking for some people power. Please email or call your representative, especially if they are Republican.
Ask them to please support the 4% funding raise in school aid.
Email addresses can be found here:

If possible it is also quite effective to ask legislators at the forums they attend every weekend.
Here is an upcoming list:

And if you wouldn't mind sending one extra, Tom Sands is the chair of the Ways and Means Committee. He sits in the catbird seat for deciding who gets funding. Using the old Republican formula, they cut taxes by $300 million and now claim no money for education.
(see Peter Fisher's article here:

Finally, as one state senator reminded us, local districts may still raise local property taxes if they must to cover obligations plus they will most likely cut staff to the bone.
Please contact your rep and tell your friends and neighbors.
