On this day, October 25, 2021, the Boise Towne Square Mall shooting occurred.

October 2021 shooting
On October 25, 2021, two people were killed and four others, including a Boise Police Department officer, were injured after a shooting occurred in the mall. The gunman, identified as 27-year-old Jacob Bergquist, was also injured during an exchange of gunfire with responding officers and taken into custody. He died of self-inflicted injuries the next day.
