In just 12 hours of in-person early voting Saturday, Florida Democrats swamped the polls so heavily that they ran up a more than 34,000-vote margin over Republicans out of the nearly 270,000 votes cast at polling stations.
The Democratic vote was so big that it cut a Republican lead, built up during a month's worth of absentee-ballot voting, by more than half. As of Saturday morning, Republicans were ahead of Democrats by nearly 66,000 absentee ballots cast, or 5 percentage points.
Factor in the day's worth of Democratic early voting, and that GOP lead is now just above 31,000, or 2 points.**
Here are the absentee and early vote ballots combined:
Party Total votes Total %
REP 674,025 43%
DEM 642,660 41%
IND 258,610 16%
Total 1,575,295
The early vote numbers:
Party EV votes EV%
DEM 129,696 48%
REP 95,229 36%
IND 43,313 16%
268,238
The absentee vote numbers:
Party AB votes AB%
REP 578,796 44%
DEM 512,964 39%

I'm going to go vote tomorrow further diminishing the Republican lead in absentee ballots.

(6,960 posts).... and that Florida is the sneak attack surprise.
Of course, it helps that Obama is ahead in Ohio. But it sounds like the public emphasis on Ohio is making Rmoney spend most of his time and money there.
In the mean time, I hope that Obama in Florida is so organized and GOTV so wired that it surprises the conventional, mainstream media pundits and comes in strong for Obama.
If Obama takes Florida, the game really is over for Rmoney; Obama could lose almost all of the other swing states and still get 270 electoral votes.

(13,616 posts)Because if Obama did not save GM, a lot of Ohioans would have no job. Also, Florida needs focus, but it does not help that they know Rick Scott is here. Of course, we should have had Rick Scott dragged before the AG for any number of reasons by now.

(9,132 posts)I salute those Florida Democrats who have voted absentee or who have already voted early. For those who are preparing to vote by mail, I understand that the postage is TWO first-class stamps and that your ballot envelope needs to be postmarked no later than election day.

Visualize: Mitt Romney's concession speech.
Let's make those visions REAL!
