Sample ballot in Miami-Dade

This is a link to the sample ballot of House District 27 in Miami-Dade.

https://www.voterfocus.com/SampleBallots/WHSampleBallot.php?county=miamidade&fvrsid=120839302&election=794

I noted while voting in the primary that the instructions for mailing the ballot and using the privacy envelope are within the paperwork, and not on the ballot itself. That is going to cause some first-time mail voters to assume they don't need to read the paperwork. Biden needs to reference the privacy sleeve during the debate tomorrow. Many states use that.

I have not looked at the amendments yet.

1. Why would they assume they don't have to

read the instructions? Every state in which I have voted by mail, there are a number of important elements in the envelop that are important. It's not junk mail, read everything before marking the ballot.

4. Even 1 or 2% error rate could be critical

The overwhelming majority of absentee voters are going to fill it out at home and stick it in the mail. I know it sounds great around here to emphasize dropping off the ballot, and everyone being extremely careful reading instructions and while filling out the ballot. That is not the real world. The 1 or 2% error rate is well within logical range, and probably on the low end, given so many first-time mail voters

3. It is a sleeve to hold the ballot

Yes, it comes with each absentee ballot. Same issue was mentioned regarding Pennsylvania recently. The voter is supposed to fill out the ballot, place it within the sleeve, and then stick that combination within the return envelope before mailing, or dropping off.

During the primaries in August I voted absentee. I immediately identified that the privacy sleeve was a potential sticking point. I mentioned it here several times. The sleeve was gold in color, trying to make it stand out. But that it not enough. It is simply too easy to set it aside amidst the original envelope and assume it it unnecessary filler. Consequently the ballot is considered "naked" and may not count. I'm not sure how Florida will handle it. Pennsylvania has already said those ballots will be discarded. Given Republican control in this state I assume those ballots will be rejected here also.

I voted in August with mail-in and had no problems, but haven't received my mail-in ballot for the General Election yet.

I never know what to do with the questions about retaining judges. I agree that Biden needs to address the privacy sleeve.

In fact, it hasn't been sent. I went to this link to check:

https://www.miamidade.gov/global/service.page?Mduid_service=ser151187731708822

Once you enter your information it goes to a page with voter information and also "Upcoming Elections" to check on status of the current ballot. It also includes the link to the sample ballot
