Lefty Group Endorses Green Team Foes
DC for Democracy (one of the best progressive groups in the city) endorsements, via Loose Lips (which is probably the best place covering DC politics):
The anti-Green Team mood continued in the at-large race, where the group backed Vincent Orange challenger Robert White with nearly 96 percent of endorsement votes cast.
Instead of backing Bowser incumbent Brandon Todd in Ward 4, nearly 80 percent of D.C. for Democracy members casting ballots voted for Leon Andrews. Similarly in Ward 8, Trayon White won almost 90 percent of the endorsement vote against incumbent LaRuby May.
In Ward 7, ex-mayor turned Council hopeful Vince Gray landed the D.C. for Democracy endorsement with 67 percent of votes over Bowser-backed incumbent Yvette Alexander. Gray also earned labor endorsements last week from three unions: laborers' union LiUNA, the Building Trades Council, and the retail workers union UFCW.
It seems like Vincent Gray and Trayon White have a good shot at unseating the incumbents. Leon Andrews and Robert White are going to have more difficulty, but they might be able to pull it off (Andrews having a better shot than White).
Either way, there's a good chance we'll see the council to the left (though having Bowser as mayor will still be something of an impediment).
