The leaves came off the Ginkgos at Judiciary Square last night.

The ground around the MPD headquarters is now covered with ginkgo leaves. Good forage for dinosaurs, I suppose.

Ginkgos lose their leaves all at once. Years and years ago, I had an exam in the morning. When I went in the building, the leaves on the ginkgo by the door were all on the tree. When I came out, they had fallen, just like that.

If I find a webcam, I'll post the link.

They are such handsome trees. Here's one nearby:

Update from 4:45 Tuesday afternoon: one tree refuses to knuckle under. It still has its leaves. Perhaps it's a male gingko. I can tell that some of the trees that have lost their leaves are female gingkos.

Fight the power!
