free COVID-19 testing is available for DC residents. from Mayor Bowser.

April 24, 2020
Dear Washingtonians,

Please help spread the word: free COVID-19 testing is available for DC residents.

Health care providers across the District have free testing for COVID-19 and the District is operating free testing sites at the United Medical Center in Ward 8 and at the UDC Bertie Backus campus in Ward 5. (A list of testing locations can be found on coronavirus.dc.gov/testing.)

Additionally, we need residents to know that it is not just people with fever, cough, or shortness of breath who are being tested. Over the past several weeks, more symptoms related to COVID-19 have been identified. So, if you feel sick, call a doctor or call the testing hotline and let a medical professional advise you on next steps. We are sending out information by mail and making phone calls, but we also ask that when you call seniors in your life, you share this information with them and give them the phone number for our COVID-19 testing hotline: 1-855-363-0333.

Testing and contact tracing will be critical at every stage of our response and recovery. In order to flatten the curve and contain the virus, we need to know who has COVID-19 and who has been exposed to it. That is why we continue to look for ways to expand testing in DC and why, this week, we established a Contact Trace Force at DC Health.
