Don't forget to vote for Elissa Silverman this Tuesday! (April 23)
The April 23 elections are almost here and I hope everyone goes out and votes! The election for At-Large Councilmember is extremely important, and it looks like we have a good shot at getting a real progressive on the council. Elissa Silverman hasn't taken any corporate contributions and has a history of fighting for progressive ideas from her time with the DC Fiscal Policy Institute.
According to the latest poll she's tied with Republican (and Norquist pledge signatory) Pat Mara for second, and catching up on (ethically challenged, political machine candidate) Anita Bonds. Progressive activists (myself included) have been out in force the last few days to push Silverman across the finish line. Opportunities to get progressives on the council don't come along often, so let's try to make a strong showing this time around.
