Every time we get an interesting astronomical event, the fog rolls in. Sure after a week of triple digit temperatures and pale, cloudless blue skies, not to mention the drought drying everything up and increasing the fire season, tonight there is a blood moon and eclipse. I'm getting all ready for the show and it's all obscured with a thick marine layer, something I usually welcome but NOT TONIGHT!
Phooey! I'm going to bed.

(130,975 posts)'While the eclipse will be visible from all of North America, "If you're in the central or western parts of the U.S. and Canada, you'll see the total eclipse high in a dark sky well before sunrise. Easterners will find dawn brightening and the Moon sinking low in the west while the eclipse is in progress offering particularly interesting photo opportunities.'

(15,682 posts)Brilliantly clear night here. Beautiful eclipse! I need to stop watching and get back to bed for a few hours but it's hard to stop gazing at it. I guess I'll wait until the moon is fully covered and then call it a night /morning. We're just about there.

(5,477 posts)but the moon is *very* visible through it. I was just outside and it's a very nice view, but I'm probably not going to stay up much longer and will miss the eclipse.
