Amanda Renteria is running for Congress in California's 21st District, in the Central Valley's Fresno and Tulare Counties. We need Amanda in the House; we need to dump her teabag opponent.
Amanda is an impressive, eminently qualified and experienced candidate.
Her bio is here: http://amandarenteria.com/Amanda-Renteria-Bio.pdf She is a dream candidate; we can help put her into the House and be proud of her.
Here's what Emily's List has to say about her opponent:
"Freshman Tea Party Rep. David Valadao is not only a typical Republican obstructionist, he seems dangerously clueless about what the 21st needs the districts unemployment rate is above Californias average, and more than a quarter of its families live below the poverty line. Valadao vocally criticized the federal stimulus package, which funded more than $15 million in water projects in the district, and voted against the California DREAM Act. He supported a restrictive 2011 Voter ID bill and voted twice against requiring insurance companies to provide maternity coverage. In Congress hes backed multiple radical, anti-choice bills while coming under fire for failing to divulge his personal, financial interest in a high-speed rail project."

(4,299 posts)In the OP, the first link is page-not-found; the emilyslist link yields this gem, "A Tea Party opponent wildly out-of-step with the district," and there is very little information on the candidate's own site (the third link). And with the link you provided, she will have a struggle.
As for Hernandez, If John Hernandez isn't stopped, Democrats will forfeit an important House raceagain

I wouldn't be surprised, as well connected as she is, if that Kos article is a plant to discredit him.
Well, he may have sloppy finances, but his position on policies is better than hers and he connects better to the 99%, the workers, and the Hispanics, IMHO.
and LOL at the comments on Kos. This Hernandez is not the astronaut Jose Hernandez, whom I've met.
Sheesh. Where do these people live?
Nowhere near CA21, I'm sure.

(22,271 posts)Also, the Espoused One just got an e-mail from Congressman Joaquin Castro (D-TX) endorsing Renteria.
Make no mistake, she is, from all accounts, a Blue Dog through and through, BUT, currently the seat is held by Valadeo who won't even meet with his Hispanic constituents. BIG mistake as Renteria is heavily courting Hispanic groups.
