Related: About this forum(California) It's early, but the SoS page is not showing good news for Prop 30
http://vote.sos.ca.gov/returns/ballot-measures/Hope that turns around, a loss would be serious bad news for the CSU.
Also kind of interesting that voters seem very willing to reform 3-strikes, but eager to keep the death penalty; that seems kind of divergent...

(9,696 posts)either prop 30 or 32 has to pass, they can't both pass or there will be a run off. And it looks like the munger prop has dragged down prop 30.
So, the only good take away is that another millionaire spent their money on a ballot initiative which didn't pass.
maybe 30 will pull through but I'd heard it was at about 48%

(57,936 posts)Prop 30, sponsored by Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown, would raise income taxes by 1 to 3 percent over seven years for those earning $250,000 or couples jointly filing returns for more than $500,000. The plan would raise about $6 billion annually, $2.9 billion of which would go to K-12 schools and community colleges in the first year.
Prop 38 is championed by millionaire civil rights attorney Molly Munger and would increase state income taxes for all Californians over 12 years. Revenue from the program -- at an estimated $10 billion annually for the first years of the program -- would directly go to K-12 schools and early education programs. For the first four years, however, 30 percent of those revenues would pay down state bond debt.

Molly Munger is a wealthy woman who supposedly wants all Californians to "have skin in the game" including those with children who are surviving thanks to food stamps. Horrors! Never really knew what it is to try to do for your kids on next to nothing and wants to make sure that those who do know that have skin in the game. The Munger folks argue that after all you can deduct the tax from your taxes. Why bother taxing poor people for so little gain to the state and then making the poor claim a deduction for the tax on their tax returns. It is an idiotic waste of paper, state and federal employee time, etc.

(1,247 posts)The figures are insanely high:
35 Human Trafficking 3,160,463 83.2% YES 638,468 16.8% NO

Even the absentee ballots couldn't affect this. Remember that lots of California ballots were sent in by mail and it may take several days or more to count them all.
