New California laws you need to know about for 2019

• Straws will only be available upon request at restaurants

• Nonbinary will become an option for your driver's license

• Furry friends sold in pet stores can't be from breeding mills

• Boards of publicly traded companies must include women

• Water and milk as default drinks for kids' menus

• You can go vegan at hospitals or in prisons

• California must chart a path toward 100 percent renewable energy

• No more cash bail

• Most individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence will be barred for life from owning guns.

• Surfing is now the official state sport of California

• Optometrists can no longer have more than 11 offices

• Cemeteries can sell booze if they're over 100 years old and designated monuments by the city of Los Angeles

• Extraordinarily scenic rivers must be preserved in their free-flowing state

• Twenty percent of driver's license tests administered must now include a question about the dangers of unsecured ladders, buckets, and other loose items
