Former Bay Area Radio Icon Ray Taliaferro Missing In TennesseeNovember 25, 2018
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) Former Bay Area talk radio icon Ray Taliaferro has been reported missing from Paducah Ky., near his southern Illinois home, the Massac County Sheriffs Office has reported.
Taliaferro, 79, was an outspoken liberal who from 1977 through 2011 hosted an overnight talk radio program on KGO. He was reported missing Nov. 10.
The onetime San Francisco radio host was last seen in Paducah on that day. A flier put out by the Paducah Police Department states that Ray was last seen talking with the manager of the Mellow Mushroom pizza restaurant in Paducah. He may be experiencing disorientation and signs of dementia.
He was wearing a black leather jacket, a black turtleneck and black pants, according to police.
Taliaferro has a long professional resume, which includes leading the San Francisco chapter of the NAACP. He also is credited with the first black talk-show host in a major market radio station (New York City) and being named San Franciscos first black member of the arts commission.

on KGO Radio back in the day...KGO was a powerful station back than, maybe not so much these days. KGO carried the Oakland A's games back than too, not sure if they still are or not as I listen to the GIANTS on KNBR.

A longtime Bay Area journalist and radio host was found dead in Paducah, Ky., three weeks after he had been reported missing, his family said.
The family of Raphael Ray Taliaferro posted an update to a GoFundMe page Sunday night announcing his death. His body was found in a wooded area about a mile from the pizza shop where he was last seen in Paducah, the family wrote.
The family is in the process of working with the police to learn the matters surrounding his death, the statement said. At this time, we are processing this turn of events and ask for privacy as we work through our loss.
Taliaferros wife had reported the 79-year-old missing around 9:30 a.m. Nov. 10, in Massac County, Ill. Around six hours later, witnesses told officials they saw him in Paducah, Ky., roughly 20 miles away and just over the state border.
