Someone in Gov. Brown's office leaked the budget!!

In case you were wondering why the announcement came today, instead of Tuesday as we had anticipated:

The governor rolled out his proposed 2012-13 budget Thursday afternoon, six days before he had planned to announce it. The plan was unveiled early after a staff member accidentally posted the document to the web.

“Accidentally”? If you believe that, I’ve got a bridge I’d like to show you...

And now for the latest Arnie-style cuts:

He is proposing nearly $1 billion worth of cuts to CalWORKs, the state's welfare-to-work program, which would be achieved by reducing how long people can stay on the assistance program from four years down to two, and cutting monthly payments by $71. The average recipient is a family with three children and currently receives about $463 per month.

Child care subsidies, which are currently offered to about 363,400 children, would be cut for 71,000 kids, a $450 million savings.

And Medi-Cal would also see deep cuts. The governor wants to reduce spending by $678 million by moving people that receive both Medicaid and Medicare federal funding onto managed care plans; reduce payments to community clinics by $28.8 million; and make $75 million worth of reductions to the rates the state pays laboratories and some other medical service providers.

And that's WITH his Band-Aid revenue plan for the November ballot!! When are these people going to get serious about raising some real revenue??!!
