Hidden secrets and legends on the UC Berkeley campus (SFGate)

On Wednesday, thousands of Cal students will attend their first class of the 2015-16 school year in familiar spots like Wheeler, Barrows and Evans halls. But how many will know that, below their feet, runs a mining tunnel once used by students for hands-on practice? Or that somewhere on campus are the remains of over 12,000 individuals, the largest such collection in the nation outside of the Smithsonian?

UC Berkeley has stood since 1868, and it's gathered a lot of secrets and legends since then. It's also gathered a T-Rex (but you'll have to find out for yourself where exactly that big boy lives).
