http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Suspected-killer-in-Virginia-slayings-of-6466587.phpA man originally from Oakland was being sought Wednesday morning for allegedly fatally shooting a television reporter and cameraman in Virginia as they were doing a live shot and then posting video of the killings on his Facebook page.
Police in Moneta, Va., were searching for 41-year-old Bryce Williams of Roanake (sic) in the double slayings. Authorities said he also used the name Vester Lee Flanagan II.
Authorities reportedly were in pursuit of Williams on Interstate 64 hours after the shooting, which happened at 6:45 a.m. EDT. There were reports shortly before noon local time that he had shot himself....
He worked as a customer service representative at Pacific Gas and Electric Co. from 2001 to 2002, according to his Linkedin account. He started as a news intern for KPIX-TV in San Francisco in 1993, and was later given a full-time staff position as a production assistant and weekend news writer.

To no one's surprise, the commenters are focusing very heavily on the Oakland thing.

(5,417 posts)1. An oakland based newspaper is reporting that he has ties to Oakland
Why is that suprising. I don't see it being picked up nationally, but if he was from hackensack new jersey, you would probably see a paper there reporting that he had ties to that place as well.

and this hardly seems like something to brag about.

The newspaper is there to report facts. This is a big story. I see no problem with the article.
