Related: About this forumS.F. mayor: Homeless ‘have to leave the street’ for Super Bowl
http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/matier-ross/article/S-F-mayor-Homeless-have-to-leave-the-6465209.phpSan Francisco Mayor Ed Lee has a Super Bowl message for homeless people who are camping along the Embarcadero: They are going to have to leave.
Well give you an alternative, Lee said when he was asked whether the sidewalk sleepers will have to go before San Francisco plays host to the thousands in town for the Super Bowl in February. We are always going to be supportive. But you are going to have to leave the street. Not just because it is illegal, but because it is dangerous....
Jennifer Friedenbach, director of the Coalition on Homelessness, said the mayors hope for getting a major portion of the homeless population under a roof by February is unrealistic.
The Navigation Center is already operating at capacity, and the 500 units of housing that he is talking about should be full by then, Friedenbach said. It would be outrageous to hold them in reserve for any event.

of "alternative."
If SF is putting a chunk of public money into hosting this private-business event--and one article I saw says the city estimates $50 million--then they can do better than hiding people in a warehouse for a couple of days...

Reminds me of some of the stuff that went down in the 80's when that Frank guy was mayor.
