Democratic race develops for NLR House seat

Kent Walker, a North Little Rock lawyer who's been active in Democratic Party politics, announced today as a candidate for House District 38, which covers parts of North Little Rock and Sherwood and currently is represented by Republican Rep. Donnie Copeland, who hasn't announced yet if he'll seek re-election or run for a state Senate seat. He has, however, begun filing campaign reports for a Republican primary race against Sen. Jane English.

Copeland narrowly defeated incumbent Democratic Rep. Patti Julian in 2014.

Walker is the second Democrat in the race. Victoria Leigh, also a North Little Rock lawyer, announced earlier. Carlton Wing also is running as a Republican.

Walker has served on the Pulaski Tech Board of Trustees and as chair of the Pulaski County Election Commission. He's on the North Little Rock Chamber Board of Directors and Executive Committee. More at his website.
