In-person classes in Arkansas off through end of school year -- Cases hit 875

Schools campuses in Arkansas will be closed for in-person instruction through the end of the school year, Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced Monday, as the number of coronavirus cases in Arkansas hit 875.

Students had previously been set to return to classrooms April 17. Schools across the state have been closed to in-person instruction since at least March 17.

Year-end testing for the state has already been called off.

I hope someone is working on plans for recovering this year of education. I suspect there will be a year group moving through the system for twelve years trying to catch-up. I also wonder what is to be done about this year's high school seniors taking the ACT/SAT and college seniors taking entrance exams for graduate schools.

next year. From a personal perspective, I took the ACT exam during my junior and the fall of my senior year of high school. I also took the SAT during the fall of my senior year. Most universities have a deadline of March 1 to submit information in order to be considered for scholarship awards.
