Another cyclist hit and killed

Going to the store a mile from my apartment in Tucson drove past a police crime scene with a cloth covered body and a mangled bicycle.

Just a reminder to folks in Tucson and Phoenix that this is the most dangerous area I have ever seen for cyclists and urging you to be careful and to warn any visitors you have that AZ is dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists.

The other day I googled the pastor who married me 40 years ago to find that he was visiting a friend in Phoenix and was killed bicycling at dusk.

The traffic in Tempe moves pretty darn fast even in rush hours. I would never bike there. marble falls Apr 2018 #2

I see people cycling along some very busy highways around here and Colorado has some of the shittiest highways. No shoulders, too much traffic. A slight derail, but when we drive through Kansas, they have fantastic highways! For a state with tax cuts they sure have good roads.

Anyway, I used to ride along a county road out where I live and quit doing it about a year ago. It's getting so much busier with commuter cut through traffic and people on this road scare me in my car - texting and messing with their phones, going over the yellow line or off the side of the road onto the tiny shoulder (where I would cycle). I stick to the trails. Not good if you want your bike for commuting but if you're biking to train for cycling trips where you need to cover a lot of miles, you have to be on the roads with cars and it is just so dangerous
