Arizona lawmaker reaches plea agreement in food stamp case
PHOENIX (AP) — An Arizona lawmaker accused of food stamp fraud has reached a plea agreement to end the criminal case against her.
The Arizona Capitol Times reports that according to her attorney Roy Herrera, Rep. Ceci Velasquez will plead guilty to a misdemeanor in the case.
Velasquez was indicted in June by a state grand jury on felony counts of fraud, theft and unlawful use of food stamps.
The indictment alleges Velasquez fraudulently obtained $1,726 in food stamp benefits between Nov. 1, 2013 and Jan. 31, 2015.
