Drivers on most-traveled roads in Arizona to get new, improved freeways

Some of the most-traveled roads in the state are being upgraded under a five-year plan from the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers will temporarily encounter construction delays but ultimately end up with longer, wider freeways and other improvements.

Building the South Mountain Freeway in the southeast Valley and improving roads near Tucson, Scottsdale, Wickenburg, northern Arizona and along the Mexico border are part of a $4.5 billion construction plan. Some projects will start as soon as this year.

The high-priority projects will ease traffic woes, add jobs and spur other economic development, said Laura Douglas, ADOT spokeswoman.

303 south of I10 - hopefully will not take too many homes.....

Buckeye - almost the last stop b4 I85 is growing leaps..they are building another elementary school - young and growing- although they really, really need to do something about their downtown - you might as well be in tombstone at the turn of the century....with less buildings..it is a rough ride into Phoenix - easing traffic flow is paramount..public trans is as well....

Don't get me wrong - when you are close to I10/Miller Rd. and the Cali-AZ travel route..you have everything going for you - plenty of room for growth.....

Now east of Mesa, in Globe-Superior...not so much - revitalization is sorely needed - but the only development I see is the mining - a new dev. plan is needed....it is beautiful country though...

We welcomed the 202 in the east valley....living north at Red Mountain.....what a difference....
