I never watched the original. Never got into it. I thought I'd take this new version in after the game. I must say that I'm hooked. It was compelling. I hope somebody posts a video of the reveal Duchovny goes through revealing the real conspiracy. They used a lot of footage from recent news and actually put it together is such a way that made it very believable.
I'm curious if anybody else watched it and what you thought.

So far, looks good, but I want to see the whole thing.

(1,370 posts)I loved the original, up to a point. It ended up kind of slow and mopey. Hated the dreary music.
This new run shows promise. Interesting concept, snappy dialog. Nice intro.
2nd episode tonight I think.

(47,571 posts)I bailed on it when it changed into a single-story conspiracy show.

(45,319 posts)They claimed X Files would be on eventually but I can't stand that football shit so we gave up. Set up the day to watch it at 7, then it was not on. I assume it sucks since they pushed the audience away so aggressively.

(16,104 posts)The second episode is tonight (Monday, Jan. 25).
I don't believe it is going to stray too far from the original series. Not with Mulder and Scully.
'X-Files' reopened with new agents and our present day rampant paranoia? That would be a real reboot.
Or just watch "Mr. Robot"?

(28,394 posts)It seemed very true to the original series. I liked the way it brought in past events and updated the conspiracy. It was fun and I'll watch the rest of them.
Duchovny was terrific; loved his character.

(22,109 posts)And as I suspected, there are a lot of truthers out there who think it's actually a documentary.
Warning, this is full of spoilers and should only be watched after seeing the 1st episode, if you intend to...

(12,047 posts)Not only did they get older, the show got a whole lot crazier...loose ends by the bushel.
It's pretty good, seems like they just picked up where it left off and are running with it. In HD of course, and little easter eggs about the old series thrown in.
Cigarette smoking man?
But will the key story about "the girl" go on? (Nina, the soviet spygirl from The Americans) who had her womb used as an incubator for alien-human hybrid experiments supposedly all run by the government or the Illuminati or ....anyway, Scully said that her DNA and the lady's DNA both had alien DNA in it. So who the fuck knows.
Did the girl get beamed up before things blew up?
With only 6 episodes they won't waste too much time on side stories (will they?).

(34 posts)And it feels a bit like they try to wrap things up too quickly at the end of each episode but I'm reserving judgement. I love Gillian Anderson but her face just does not move and it's a little freaky. David Duchovny is a bit too much like Hank from Californication, it seems like the same character.
