Survivor Worlds Apart- Episode 8 discussion thread

Last night's episode was fun, but had a few problems for me. Mostly I do not understand why Caroline and Tyler would want to work with the Blue alliance over the red alliance, which I think they could far more easily manipulate. We will have to see. I suspect once they get Joe out, there will be more room for Jenn to join another alliance, but Joe is just too big a threat.

I still do not know why the hippies voted out Kelly instead of Rodney, Mike or Dan. But that is over and done. Returning to camp from tribal, Jenn’s move playing the idol was discussed. Rodney was angry and blamed Mike for the mistake. WHAT??? How does that make sense? Rodney went to Will to ensure Will was with Rodney. Sinc ehe lost one of his 4, I think he needs to repalce Kelly (not that he ever had Kelly). He is such a bad player I can not wait for him to be gone.

The RC was a good challenge. The prize was a canopy zip line followed by a pizza picnic. It involved crossing a long balance beam to retrieve puzzle pieces and then solving the puzzle. In the end, Joe won. He is just too good for his own good physically. He made a great decision and Tyler, Will, Shirin and Carolyn to join him. Leaving the core blue with his best two tribemates in camp. I was glad to see that Joe’s alliance mates weren’t mad. It seems like this brilliant move always pisses someone off. If anything, it showed what an ass Rodney is. Maybe shifted some away from him.

After Shirin almost killed the guide and herself by zip lining into the end station too fast, they had pizza. Joe noticed the idol clue in Carolyn’s soda bottle. He got it, but Tyler caught him.

Tyler wisely kept quiet. I don't get Tyler's plan. It seems to me he could oust Mike, Dan and Rodney easily and secure a final four for him and Carolyn, but Tyler gave Mike the clue information back at camp and Mike found the idol.

While I like Joe, there was no reason for him to stop looking. This mistake will cost him as he can not win ICs forever.

The IC was a good one. Pure puzzle. Actually a puzzle race. Joe was amazing and won it again. He is very very good at this game. Back at camp, Dan showed why he is such a jerk. He is rubbing it in to Shirin why she is a bad player and why she will go home. He actually said to the camera, "I wish someone would just slap her already.”

He is such a jerk. I hope he goes home soon. HArd ot say who is more of a jerk, Dan or Rodney.
So the poorly edited issue for tribal was whether or not Sierra would turn on the anti-woman Dan, or not. I know immediately she would not. I do not get her strategy, but she is marching with Mike, Dan and rodney to her death. The girls would need one more vote to do this, so they went to Tyler. He said maybe, but I thought it was clear he would stay one more week to weaken Joe, then try to get rid of him.

tribal was boring. Some talk about flipping alliances never wins, but it has. Haley compared flipping to the Thirteen Colonies turning on England and since they are the Merica tribe, they should flip. Tyler and Sierra stayed in their blue alliance and Haley was ousted.

Best line of the episode was Jenn saying to Rodney “I f*cking hate you!”. Jenn is not a great strategy player, but she really is a physical threat and has some great one-liners.

This goes into my all time favorite Survivor one-liners with "F*ck you Brad Culpepper!" and
"Get the girls some chocolate and peanut-butter Probst!" (which resulted in a naked Heidi and Jenn back in Amazon.)

Anyway, next week I see Joe going home, but we will see.

Joe should have shared the immunity clue with his selected group once he was caught. He might have pulled in the White Collars who both together could change the game. They would at least trust him.

Mike nailed down the coffin lid on that opportunity, and played that search masterfully. They could have removed him last week, but no...Kelly.

The women flirted with gender alliance, but didn't bring them all in. So they lost a woman.

Dan has some real issues. His treatment of Shirin, for no purpose other than being nasty to a fellow human being, is very disturbing. There is a great deal of in-your face misogyny embedded in the Blue Collars. Maybe not far from 'blue collar' reality?

Mike is loaded up now. My favorites Joe and Jenn may need to receive an offer they can't refuse, a little guidance, to get closer to the end. Will the White Collars do the math?

Mike is wound up far too tight about this game...was he really crying about the hidden immunity idol? Dude, get a grip...it's a fucking game...

Joe is the man. 3 for 3 in individual challenges so logically he's the next to go leaving behind such stellar human beings as Dan = Douchebag and Rodney = Muscle-bound Moronic Douchebag.

The remaining white collars are playing the smartest game at the moment letting the no collars and blue collars pick each other off...But we shall see how long that lasts...

I do want to see another Rodney WTF moment, hopefully as he tries to blindside Mike who pulls out the idol at the last second at a TC and Rodney's goofy grin turns into another "Bro? Bro? WTF BRO??!!!" moment...

We shall see...

Then he's going to swoop in & run the place. Rodney is my favorite dope of all time ever.

They both work within a structured hierarchy. White collars are leery of independents because they are outside the structure. White collars don't understand that mindset. White collars like to think they "think outside the box," but they're still in a box, because that's where they're most comfortable.

I was disappointed that Dan & his ugly beard did not go. On the jerk spectrum, Dan is a mean-streak jerk, compared to Rodney's empty-headed jerk. However, neither has an ounce of charisma, or ability to influence anyone (with the possible exception of Will, and what the hell is he playing at?), and they're no threat at challenges, so both are probably safe for the power players to keep around as long as possible. I would like to see Dan get his beard caught in a rock crevice or something, though.

I wondered if they were setting us up for a Dan blindside but no. He's a real pig but he's also trying TOO hard to be a villain.

by the decisions being made. It always makes me wonder what we are not seeing.

How on earth could Sierra not vote for Dan? I don't know how much the other women have heard from him (except Shirin) but they don't like him because they must know who he is. Sierra had it directed at her and she does not vote him out with the other women? Surely she knows her blue collar cred is tainted just simply because she is female so she will never make it past the blue bros in the end. Surely she knows this. I hope Dan has repercussions in his life after the words he had about Shirin. She may be obnoxious and loud and maybe she is not very bright, I don't know about that, but there is never a reason to speak about slapping anyone around. Disrespectful at best, scary and abusive certainly.

I thought Tyler spilling the beans to Mike was a shitty thing to do. I am not sure how else Joe could have handled it except to share it with all those with him but for Tyler to do that seems really stupid.

I am not getting a lot of this I guess. Still rooting for Joe and Jenn. Rodney is certainly fun to have around. I don't know where people like him get all their confidence and bravado but he has an awful lot of it in the face of the fact that nobody is listening to him but Will....by the way, what kind of game is Will playing?

LOL, Survivor. It is what it is. I am enjoying this season however. I am happy about that. I hope others are as well because I could actually watch these for a long time.
