Lifetime has given a drama pilot order adapted from Jean M. Auel's The Clan of the Cave Bear novels from executive producers Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Allison Shearmur.
I've always admired Jean M. Auel's timeless work, said Lifetime's executive vice president and general manager, Rob Sharenow, said in a statement.

Now there's a blast from the past! I loved the book series but hated the movie.

(31,528 posts)Maybe I should qualify that. I loved the first 3 books (The Clan of the Cave Bear, The Valley of Horses and The Mammoth Hunters), but the later ones devolved into some kind of pre-historic bodice rippers that were really not worth the read, IMO.

(19,288 posts)I loved the idea and concepts of the books though and read all except maybe the last one. I got tired of waiting for it and never checked to see if it was ever written. I've forgotten most of the plot by now. Curious to know how it will be received by the public.
The movie was a deplorable farce. Too bad, huh.

(245 posts)The all battered women all the time channel? The show has no hope of being even passable.
Everything on that network is made so poorly and formulaic, I and a friend of mine trolled my mom who watches everything Lifetime, we told her we would be able to tell her exactly who did what after watching only the first 10 mins of any Lifetime movie, we had most of them pegged only 5 mins in. She's still annoyed with us both 5 years later for "ruining" 6 of her movies.
