Wow- What a GREAT episode. I am LOVING this season. I love the people and I love how BAD some of them are playing. First off, Tony is an idiot, but a lucky idiot. Because Trisha saved his bacon last night. He would have wasted an idol and been the next to go or at least top two had she not turned Kass into crazy Kass. Second, the rest of Kas's nerd squad made a huge mistake in not completely telling her that we have to listen to her this week, but she goes next week when we have the numbers. Its smart and will be fun.
So we start with team Nerds coming back from ousting Alexis. Kass is worried about Sarah or Jeremiah flipping. so what does she do, she goes right to Sarah, which seemed smart to me. But how she approached her was silly. She really should have approached her with open arms and saying we really want you to be with the nerds and get to the final 4 with us, and then play that she is really on the bottom of those 3 and would love to turn things on them once she gets to the final 4 with Sarah and have the two of them be the ones at the final tribal. Instead she just acted accusatory. Its clear its two alpha dogs with very different personalities, so they can not get along.
Meanwhile, its MERGE TIME! Tony and the jocks know they need to get Sarah or Alexis, but they feel good about both. They get a message that a hidden idols near camp has "special powers." Tony goes right for Sarah and is crushed that she is not sure what she's going to do. Then Sarah lets this power go to her head. Trish is the team choice, but Sarah says it has to be L.J. or Woo. Tasha tries to mediate, but all she does is piss of Kass. this can go badly for them.
So the first IC is a favorite of mine. Balance on a floating pyramid platform in the water with their feet on narrow strips of wood. Every 15 minutes they have to move up. Once they get to the top, its quickly just Tony and Woo. Tony drops and Woo is the winner. Uh Oh. That was who Sarah wanted out first. Sarah says she is stronger and smarter, so she will stay with the nerds and get rid of her old team.
Spencer argues it should be Jefra because there's no way that she has an idol, and there's no way anyone else will play one for her. Sarah says its her way or the high way and it has to be a strong man going home. She picks Tony. Kass isn't happy. Tony tries to talk to Sarah, but no dice. Trish works Kass and tells her that the jocks are all voting for Sarah and she should too. Kass loves her new power. Uh Oh. she has not thought this out. She is in the top 3 on the power team now, and not even the main target their because that is Spencer. Why would she do this.
At tribal, LJ and Tony admit they might be targets, then Tony pulls out his idol and says he will play it for someone. The nerds all say to vote for the "other one." They vote and Tony plays his idol for LJ. LJ pulls his idol to play for Tony. Wow, the nerds all look nervous. But once the second vote is read, its Jefra. She is so going home, unless Kass was really dumb.
Well, she was. Kass votes off Sarah. So she did create Chaos, but she also weakened herself.
She is at the bottom of 6 now, instead of the top of 6 with it about to be 5. I would have played this very differently.

(22,340 posts)What does she think she is going to do as weeks go by? Does she really think she isn't the bottom of the 6 in her new group? Ridiculous. And she had a very good shot at top 3. Of course, from a viewers standpoint, there is going to be chaos now which will make for a good show. I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I feel badly for Spencer. He has all it takes and is constantly surrounded by idiots.

(4,851 posts)It will be fun to watch chaos created by bad players messing up plans by good players. Seeing Tyson mess up Rob's plan was fun, but it sure cost Rob.
Spencer is good, but he needs to play better to win. He should have controlled his alliance last night. That never should have happened and its only partly to blame on crazy Kass. It was clear that she and Sarah were going at it. Someone should have controlled Kass. If you can;t control your own alliance, you can't use that alliance to win.

(16,334 posts)Made no sense for Kass to do this at this point. It should not have mattered to her which one from the other side went home. And you are right, it totally made her disposable. She's on nobody's side now and will be perceived as a flipper by both groups. She's going home soon.
Sarah wasn't so bright either. It's as though they have never watched this game before. All she had to do was convince the others she was in the solid 6 and then she could have pushed her nominee at a later time. I wasn't sorry to see her go just because of her stupidity.
I feel sorry for Spencer, too. Knowing the group thought Jefra was "the other one" means they put some thought into what would happen if Tony played an idol.
Interesting how Woo has made himself more valuable when they were once going to vote him off right behind Cliff.

(20,805 posts)...think about it...two hidden idols played, neither in the end were needed, and the self-appointed Queen of the majority got blindsided...Amazing!
That being said Kass is playing way out of her depth...Sarah's plan to get rid of either Tony of LJ made perfect sense, Jefra (really, that's her real name, did her parents just run out of ideas before they got to the end of that line on her birth certificate?) presents a threat to no-one, and Spencer's 'logic' made no sense for someone from the 'Brains' tribe. But Kass get her fee-fees hurt so she voted to get rid of Sarah...dumb move.
L.J. gave his idol up to Tony after Tony gave him his...budding bro-mance? Awesome move for later on, or just two meatheads that got out-witted because neither idol was needed? We shall see.
I think that at this point the whole game is wide open. At some point the guys are going to turn on one another, Trish is quite the strategist...let's see how far she goes before getting caught...Kass may actually stick around because she doesn't present a physical threat and she pissed off AT LEAST five people last night, who knows how many of them will be on the jury, which leaves the eye-candy of Jefra and Holly...I wonder how far they will go in the game before being ejected?
This has been the best season of Survivor for a VERY long time, and I am thoroughly enjoying the twists and turns that are occurring naturally, without the superficial gimmicks like Redemption Island...Hope the producers stick to this for the future seasons..

(22,340 posts)I think his logic was that if there was an idol in play it (and even though Sarah "guaranteed" that Tony didn't have an idol, he still stuck to his plan well enough that when he said "the other one" everyone knew it was Jefra and not Tony) would get put out there last night and that nobody on god's green earth would think that the tribe would vote for Jefra so she is the obvious target. And he was right. He was so right that when both idols got played, she still wasn't on the radar. His plan was perfect. But for Kass.
Kass and Sarah, like dreadlocks last week, were playing on pure emotion and that doesn't equal success. I expected more from a Harvard educated lawyer.

(20,805 posts)...he is physically fit, so I would think that getting rid of the other brawn would have made more sense, at least to me. Regardless, I am amazed at how easily the wheels came off for Kass...perhaps an over-inflated view of self? She certainly seemed to be very disdainful of Sarah's profession...which I thought was rather telling...Unless her vote is needed by an alliance I think she will find herself on the bottom of the totem pole again..
Goblinmonger
(22,340 posts)If she doesn't she's a complete idiot. I have no idea what it would be. If she were to go back to her original tribe, it would be 5-5 and they would have to get the other 5 to split their vote. There are way too many variables for that to be a legit strategy. And even if she is able to make that happen and her original alliance regains control, I wouldn't keep her around one day longer than I needed her for numbers.
dr.strangelove
(4,851 posts)If she could have formed a new group I would have been okay with it, but she is not in a group at all. I would have bit the bullet on Sarah for a week, got her out, then moved on with a 5-4 edge.
Goblinmonger
(22,340 posts)And I can't believe she didn't see that as a viable option. I'm hoping she did more maneuvering that they didn't show us in the edit. But part of me hopes she didn't so that it is pure chaos and scrambling this week (which they tried to allude to with the running after the idol but, again, edition and reality are different).

Am I missing something?
dr.strangelove
(4,851 posts)I only post them in the TV chat group. I don;t even post them in the Lounge or any other place.
I see them in the Chat Group. Can someone else look please. Want to figure this out.
Thanks Suich for letting me know!

(10,642 posts)I still can't see them. I don't have you on ignore and I haven't "trashed" Survivor or anything connected to it.
UPDATE: I had SI, Snowden, Sports Illustrated and summer in my "trash" can. I removed them and now I can see all your Survivor posts!
Weird, huh?
pacalo
(24,721 posts)It could have something to do with my auto-trash keyword list.
Could you post the link so that those of us who have missed this week's OP can access it?
Thanks!

(34,120 posts)I look but there have been no more. I must be missing something too. I will read through this thread and made sure I did not miss something. I miss the DU Survivor analysis.
Suich
(10,642 posts)in "auto-trash." It definitely wasn't Survivor so I just un-trashed a couple of things that started with "s" and then I could see them.
dr.Strangelove hasn't posted for the last 2 episodes so there hasn't been a thread.
I'm having a hard time believing Tony is a NJ cop, btw!
MuseRider
(34,120 posts)and nothing hidden and nobody on full ignore. OK if he has not posted in the last couple then I am OK I think.
Didn't he say he was a construction worker this last episode? I honestly am not real sure what is going on he could be anyone at this point. I am not sure any of them know what is going on either. LOL, it is so nice to have people on we don't already know how they are thinking. A much different and better game for the audience when we don't already know the players.

(4,851 posts)I have been swamped at work. The last two weeks I havre watched them on Sunday, so I never posted an analysis.
MuseRider
(34,120 posts)that something had happened that made them invisible to me like the others.
Good to know you are well and just swamped, even though swamped that much is not really all that fun!
