Survivor Blood v. Water Episode 6 thread - No spoilers on future episodes please

First, sorry I could not post a threat last week. Life just got in the way and I watched both episodes yesterday. So I will skip the Episode 5 discussion but to say I was sad Brad did not get ousted, and think the decision to send Laura M there was brilliant. She rocks puzzles and is a very strong woman. The RI duels have all had a puzzle and were based on prowess and not strength. She will do well there.

Onto Episode 6, I am so happy. My two least favorite survivors are gone. Brad was ousted by Laura. She played him good. She set him up and dropped him fast. And we sent Kat to redemption. I am sure they will never admit it, but Kat is only here because her loved one is big Brother Boy. Hayden pulls more cred than Kat could ever pull. Kat did not deserve to be here and she will be a quick ouster from RI.

Well, we also had the mix up last night. I was thinking it was too late to shift, but there goes MB fooling me again. After Laura and John ousted Brad (Fuck You Brad Culpepper - the best line this season), another hidden idol clue was burned and then the tribes shifted.

the new tribes are hardly equal. Aras, Tyson, Gervase joined Hayden, Ciera and Caleb. this is a STRONG tribe, but might not be able to do puzzles well. Tyson and Gervase are a powerful pair. If they join up with Hayden and Ciera, they can be a real force. I am not sure that the former player alliance will survive this switch. We will see. I think it plays better to T&G to oust the pairs and they need another pair without loved ones to do that. A foursome with no loved ones can do a lot of damage. Maybe it will be Caleb instead of Ciera, but it can be a good team. Aras has to go or else he will win this thing. He can not be allowed to join his brother at a merge.

Meanwhile, the oldies camp became a tribe of women and Vytas. He went from a strong man dominated alliance to being the only male left. He is toast, unless someone does somethign stupid.

At the IC, we saw how the tribes are going to play. It was part swimming to get lobster traps with puzzle pieces, then assemble the puzzle. Tina and Laura B swam out well, but forgot the trap with the puzzle pieces. This gave a one lap lead to the boys club. but come puzzle time, the ladies evened it out and almost won. Had they not given the boys that lead, no doubt they would have been safe.

Back at camp, Tina throws herself on the sword, but with her and her daughter, she has two solid votes, plus I doubt Monica is goign to vote for her. Vytas seems done for. Then Kat saved him by making a Kat-like stupid move. She attacked Monica, the leader and head vet on the tribe. She attacked her to Tina. Tina who might be in trouble and needs to give Monica a reason to keep her instead of Vytas. this gave Tina the room she needed to lock her up in the alliance and oust Kat.

Kat looked like a fool at Tribal, crying and begging to stay. She went to RI because she made a terrible move.

...watching Fuck You Brad go home was priceless, but the very best part was Kat, AGAIN(!!!) shooting herself in the foot and getting voted out. If I recall she did the very same thing last time she played the game...what a dummy....

It's going to be interesting to see if Tyson shoots himself in the foot though...over-confidence has a way of biting you on the ass, and I don't think he's half as clever as he thinks he is...

Merge has to be coming soon I'd think, and it will be interesting to see the dynamics of the various alliances once loved ones get re-united...

it does seem like last time she messed up in the same way but we could not recall the exact details. I don't remember her being a very strong player last time either so I am not sure why they brought her back.

she did not know what an appendix was. She won the family reward and messed up by taking people who hated her, alienating the only people close to her. She made it far because she was a SOLID girl town vote, but once they all agreed she did not deserve to go tot he finals. Kim axed her. this was in one world.

who rubbed her palms together in One World and said at tribal how she loved blindsides thinking they were going to blindside someone else and got tossed that very vote by being blindsided? Not sure, I know it happened to one player I disliked and got such a kick out of it. She liked cookies, that stupid comment really hurt her.

That was right after the challange where she sounded cocky like she was safe and in power. It was fun to watch, but it showed she was a bad player. I swear they only brought her back to get Hayden, who has not been very good either.

they love to cross players between shows I think, or sometimes anyway. I do not watch any of the others so I don't know how often that happens but I think Rob and Amber did one and I thought someone else did but I can't remember who.

I like Vytas, and I want to see him and Aras join forces, but I doubt they will let that happen. If they merge and they are both in teh game, I bet one of them goes.

6. Re the fish trap

We were shocked about that too. I thought maybe each of them thought the other had it. Then last night I read another recap, and was even more puzzled.

According to that recap, after Jeff says "I'll give you a minute to strategize." it actually takes a bit of time before they get to the challenge. Multiple cameras are set up to get the shots wanted, both tribes are actually walked through the scenario, if there are underwater tasks they are sometimes even shown photos of what is down there, and any questions that might come up are answered. Someone carefully monitors whether both teams are given the same instructions/answers to questions so that it is totally fair as far as hearing anything that Jeff says pertaining to the challenge.

So, how those women didn't bring it back is beyond me. Even when they got back to the beach, they looked like they didn't know what the rest of the tribe was talking about. Weird.

I think old Tyson is going to shoot himself in the foot pretty soon. He's getting too cocky and I don't think he's really all that smart, so that's a pretty risky combination. I'm waiting for him to say "I'm in control of this game now". That's always a death sentence. He's entertaining, but seems like a jerk, so I won't miss him.

I don't think it will come down to this, but wouldn't it be interesting if Aras and Vytas were in the final three? With the love/hate rivalry they already have it could be quite a drama!

And thanks for the recap Dr S. I always look for it on Thursday, but better late than never!

I would buy one for every season. It could show exactly what you are discussing. I want to see how they show the teams the challenges, how they set up the filming, haw they make and break down those amazing settings.

Thanks, I'll try to get them up fast, but last week was crazy at home and work.

If I was one of the women on that tribe I would move in right now and solidify an alliance. He played it exactly right, sharing his past like he did and now he is obviously grateful, although I am sure he is smart enough to know what he did and how it worked, but still grateful and now is the time to pounce on him.

I was so happy to see "fuck you Brad" go, now if they could just get rid of his wife. I don't like her and would not trust her at all.

Tyson annoyed me when he played before, this time not as much.

I actually like most of the people left and would have a hard time trying to pick a favorite tribe. Interesting mix, interesting season but I would still like to see RI go.

Vytas had a tough hand dealt to him. But he might be in a good place. I wonder how close him and Aras really are. I wonder if I am all worried over nothing with him and Aras being a super team. I still would get rid of one of them soon, just to be safe. I know what you mean about the remaining tribe members. I like almost everyone left. Though I think the Gervase/Tysen pairing could prove tought ot beat. They both seem dumb, and with Tysen's arm and Gervase's water issues, it seems both have a weakness that would make them easy to beat if needed later. People might underestimate them and give them too much room, then it will be too late. I am hoping Tina and get a quiet group together, but she has not been playign the strategy game well.

of the stories about their difficulties coming together as brothers after all of Vytas struggles. Why come and play together if they really do not have a very strong bond? It certainly could be the truth, people have used odd ways to bond before but I don't know, seems fishy. I think Vytas has been doing well for a number of years. Hmmmmm

I always liked Tina too. I wish we saw more of the camp life and had reward challenges so we could get some idea who is playing the quieter games. Grrrrrr RI!
