Next Season Of "True Blood" Is Its Last

Via Dark Horizons:

HBO have announced that its major hit series "True Blood" will end its run with its seventh season in 2014.

HBO Programming president Michael Lombardo announced the news today, confirming that the final season will consist of ten episodes which will premiere next Summer.

There is just a little more at the link... Says the same guy running the show this season will run it for the last one. I'm still a season or two behind on this show, so I'll probably leave it until it's finished and do a big marathon to wrap it up. I'm thinking I recall this show is based on a book or series of books... Are they done? Does the show even really follow the books beyond the premise?

I was a big fan of the series, but it declined quickly after the second season.

As for the books, the show's first two seasons were fairly close to the first two books, but some major plot points and characters changed. the books were pretty light and my wife and I put them in our "beach reading" pile. The series was a bit darker. At thise point there is virtually nothing in common between the books and series, other than characters and the vampire basis for the story. Even the "rules" on how one becomes a werewolf, or werepanther, changes.
