Related: About this forumI watched the pilot of "Awake" on NBC starring Jason Isaacs.
He's a wonderful actor, and this is a bizarre story.
This detective is with his wife and son when they have a horrible car accident. He lives in two realities: one in which his wife survived, but his son died, and another in which his wife died and his son lived. He has sessions with different therapists in each reality. They know he is having this problem. He is back at work, and each reality has different cases to be worked.
BTW, I think they got his hair a little too dark for this role. I really enjoy his performances.

(18,161 posts)I really like him. I'm not sure the premise of the show draws me but watching him might do it.
Thanks for the info.

(61,697 posts)Looking for clues to determine which reality is correct. Then I wondered if both wife and son were dead, then I wondered if he was dead or in a coma. The psychology of the show is interesting.

(22,340 posts)The last two minutes of the show are mind blowing. I am convinced that the writers know where they are going and it's going to be good. There are so many questions to answer now: why were they trying to kill this guy? were they trying to kill him or just send a message? why doesn't he know someone is out to get him? do they know that he is living in two realities?
Damn! I think this is the new great show on broadcast TV.

(61,697 posts)and will watch it next week.
I had to skip your spoilers, getting only so far as it being "mind-blowing." Which reminds me of Dr. Sheldon Cooper (Big Bang Theory) telling Stuart that he revealed too much and ruined a newly released comic book with the phrase "mind-blowing!"

(17,742 posts)Or as someone said above, he's in a coma, probably from the car accident, but wife and son are fine. In fact, they dream about him--the wife dreams that he died and the son dreams that the mother died but the father is alive.
Goblinmonger
(22,340 posts)makes it seem like that is not the case.
I thought this show was going to be good when it seemed like a character sketch in the first episode. Second episode makes it seem like a lot more than that.

(4,178 posts)That it is the main character who is actually dead and neither reality exists?
Goblinmonger
(22,340 posts)After watching episode two, it is going to get really freaky if that is the case.

(3,344 posts)It is not a show that you can just keep an eye on. I thought it was intense.

(19,736 posts)Broadcast TV very rarely keeps audiences who have to think about anything. Those shows are for people who watch HBO and Showtime.
