(16,104 posts)Andy Serkis jumps out as quirky enough to put his stamp on the role of Dr. Who.
He was great in Peter Jackson's King Kong sans motion capture!

(34,119 posts)I started with Matt Smith who I adored (and would be thrilled to see come back) but I would really like to see a female Doctor. I don't really care all that much who is Who but have watched a lot of Doctors since I became a fan and pretty much enjoyed most of them. I do not see in the role and would not care for Catherine Tate. For some reason I did not care for her very much. Tim Roth would be an interesting choice.
Ah well, I really don't know enough to say much but it is better than reading about Trump some more. Will follow, have found myself addicted.

(765 posts)I'm old enough to remember when the mere hint of a suggestion about a female doctor was a guaranteed way to cause a complete forum meltdown and flame war. I'd love it but I wonder what the backlash on a gender switch would be like.

Now that the Master has become Missy, there is room for a female doctor.

(4,851 posts)I was a huge fan of David Tenant, who was amazing. Matt Smith was very good also. I think a female doctor would be wonderful. I do not know any Whovians who would be opposed. Can't wait to see who they have in store for us next.

(34,119 posts)I am sure it will take a bit to adjust to whoever is next but likely it will be a good change. The change in this character is great I think, we may not want to see our favorites go but I love how they do it, it adds so much to the show and keeps it really fresh and that has to be hard at this point.
I heard that Capaldi was not that popular? I like him. I think their casting crew is great.

(1,999 posts)My heart is broken that he is leaving so soon. It seems like the writers have just now hit their stride with this Doctor.

(34,119 posts)I have heard others talk about it saying they too are enjoying it. I think Capaldi was just such a big switch from Matt Smith maybe? So far I enjoy the different takes on the Doctor. I cannot wait to sit down and see this new season.

(5,301 posts)Now that they've gotten rid of the sound engineer who thought he was the star of the show and we can hear him.
I would have liked for him to stick around for a new showrunner who wanted to write for The Doctor, since his first two seasons were all about the continuing adventures of The Amazing Clara and her friend Ruth the magic blue box.
