2012 McConnell AFB Open House

A couple weeks ago, McConnell AFB in Wichita, KS had their bi-annual open house. McConnell is home to the 22nd Air Refueling Wing. There's always a KC-135 tanker on display, along with tons of other planes, vintage and modern. The highlight of the open house is always the appearance of either The Thunderbirds or The Blue Angels. This year was The Thunderbirds. Here's a few of the pics I took.

F-18 Hornet, which gave an impressive aerial display of it's own.

The Boeing DreamLifter, which carries fuselages for other planes.

Another angle of the DreamLifter.

Thunderbirds are go!

Its a cool plane, but only marginally less ugly than NASAs Super Guppy.

When it's parked at the Boeing plant it's visible from the street. I'd love to see the interior.
