friend took these from my back and front porch last winter... my partner (and I as well must since we work as a team) is retiring so this will again be my real "home" starting December 14th!!!!

(22,758 posts)an aside... my plan is to do a thru-hike on the Appalachian Trail starting March 18th... got my pack, sleeping bag, tent, boots and misc this past week... maybe you can join me for a section when I get up to North Carolina

(15,812 posts)I'm near the lower end of that now--Asheville. Unfortunately I don't have much time to hike, or look around but did go the Blue Ridge Parkway and took a walk.............. for .3 miles! Wish I had more time to poke around.

(46,436 posts)We did actually get a little snow last week, but now it's just raining...and raining...and raining. I thought with that red sunset we had last night that today would be fair, but no, we got a strong wind (again) overnight and now it's pouring again. All the local streams are topping out.
