(32,060 posts)Great shot!
I noticed how big and bright the moon was when I let my dog out tonight ... the clouds behind it were being illuminated by its brightness ... through the tree branches in my yard it was really stunning. Unfortunately the battery in my Nikon was dead! 🙁. So Im glad you captured it for me!

(149,699 posts)It is a stunning sight. I'm sorry about your battery! I have a charger and two batteries, so that there's always one ready when the first one quits.
In fact, after getting this photo (and some others) tonight, my battery decided it was time to get charged up, so I took it to the charger and made the switch.
I really appreciate your lovely comments so much!

(3,330 posts)The moon, she is such an engaging, and reassuring presence in the night sky.

(149,699 posts)I am completely hooked on taking photos of the moon. No matter how many I have, or how good or bad they are, I have to keep working till I get perfection. Hasn't happened yet!
The moon is a glorious object to be viewed, esp. in the night sky.

(23,337 posts)or the Blood Moon...calls us to move forward in the face of adversity. This moon could bring sudden and drastic change and possibly falls from grace and power, as well as transformation within relationships be they personal or political. Two moons gracing us this month give us the power to stand up for ourselves and take action in ways big and small.Regardless, this will be a powerful month...or at least thats what my cards say...Im still learning.
Beautiful photo CP. I love it.

(149,699 posts)Thank you.
I receive a monthly email from the Moon Giant site and they talk about this sort of stuff. Their graphics are stunning also.
I look forward to two full moons this month!
And thank you for your kind words about my photo!

(149,699 posts)Maybe it was near the horizon? There the atmosphere scatters the blue light and the red is what you see. Or maybe there was smoke?
Whatever caused the color, it must have been gorgeous!
