(1,802 posts)And a great endorsement for your Nikon D3200. IRRC no telescope, just a tripod and cable release!
A tripod I have, but would like to have a cable release again. My old D50 that I got in 2005 doesn't have an external shutter cable port, so I use the self timer when I want to eliminate motion. Doesn't necessarily work in all situations (like shooting moving objects) though
Last time I had one was when I was shooting film thru my N2020

(149,719 posts)You are correct: I used my Nikon D3200 with a tripod and cable release. My lens was the Tamron 18--400 zoom.
I also used my right angle viewfinder since the moon was around 60 degrees above me! I would have broken my neck without that right angle gizmo.
My D50 died electronically one month before we left on a trip to Italy, so the D3200 was a god-send!
Maybe you should upgrade? There are so many good Nikons.

(1,802 posts)Been shopping the local camera stores for a newer Nikon before the pandemic hit. Also been doing some window shopping online but I like to see the thing in person before I buy, plus sometimes the store staff are helpful with good advice. Unfortunately can't do that at the moment because of the covid risk and stores being shuttered. If my D50 bites the dust in the meantime I guess online shopping it is then!

(149,719 posts)Very kind of you. The settings on the camera were F8 and 10/4000 sec shutter speed. I have no idea how I got those, but I was very happy with the results.

(14,559 posts)wrong and correct for it elsewhere in the process just keep doing it the same way.
We are after all dealing in a visual art. The end image speaks for itself. Were you a musician I could listen to your music all day, a single melody with infinite variations. Your repertoire is broader than just the moon and I enjoy those strains as well but I admire the depth you pull from this single subject.
