From my street side walk with Snowy this afternoon.
I have been here in October when the Monarchs were migrating a number of times and it's always a challenge to get shots of them. This is the same butterfly and I just happened to bring my camera on the walk with me because I wanted to take photos of some of the signs naming the various beach houses. Serendipity!

Every one a winner, for sure.
Are they heading south? Or.......?
Great serendipity!

(31,407 posts)No glasses and holding the dog's leash in one hand while telling her to "stay"! Snowy has been my photo buddy for a lot of years now. She's really pretty good about standing still to let me shoot...most of the time!

(31,407 posts)I couldn't believe the butterfly stayed on the flowers for so long, crawling through several positions. It was just like a model moving through different poses. Many of the Monarchs flutter about quite rapidly and rarely open their wings fully for long while perched on the flowers.
