I've been seeing a fleeting glimpse of something, out of the corner of my eye, but never caught a full view until just a few minutes ago
I believe it's an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail.

We have white ones too. I've planted pipe vine to bring in the pipevine swallowtails as they are endangered and rare but native to our neighborhood.

(54,770 posts)5. Now that I looked up milkweed, that is where I saw them. I hike at an 1100 acre park near me.
There's this patch of what looks like milkweed where there were hundreds of butterflies, including the Monarchs. Have not seen them in years, but it was like walking through a glorious kaleidoscope the other day. I'm usually moving as fast as I can go, but had to stop.
