(21,650 posts)It's been a few years for me. I really need to go back sometime soon - before Cheeto gets it into his head to ban all travel to France!

(149,678 posts)Just make sure you have a current passport.
My French is very rusty, but I found that most Parisians speak at least a little English, though they do appreciate any efforts you can make in their language!
Paris is a wonderful city.

(21,650 posts)I found that, contrary to what I had been told, Parisians prefer you speak to them in English than to have to endure one;s broken French.
Reminds me of an anecdote from an earlier trip I took with my mother around 2000 or so.
My mom's feet were starting to swell from all the walking, and we stopped by a pharmacy by L'Ópera.
"Avez vous une pillule par l'eau?" I asked the attendant.
To which she looked at me like a meerkat, cocked her head a little and said, "Une wahterrr pill?"
Vive la difference!

(21,650 posts)I must admit I don't travel as much as I used to because, frankly, I find it to be more of a hassle than anything else (and in the case of, say, Brazil, downright dangerous).
That said, it certainly does have its moments.
