(86,691 posts)you seem to be heading in my direction on your journey.
Last time I was there, a lot of trees were dying from disease and beetle infestation. You're not far from one of the places where the wolves were released in 95/96.
Check out the Sunbeam Dam and a few hot springs along the road there. Carole Kind has a place where all the electric line cross the river before you get to Sunbeam.
Enjoy it while it's there! Let me know if you get to Montana.
We're wrapping up a three month road trip.
No Montana this trip but we've traveled there a lot. Beautiful country.

(86,691 posts)I used to live in Idaho, 14 years, spent as much time as possible up in that area. And I think you live in the same county in SoCal where some of my family is. Funny how that works sometimes.
This whole part of the continent is spectacular, hope it stays like that in a good way!
Have a safe and pleasant trip home.

(86,691 posts)in the lower 48, but don't rule out Montana for beautiful mountains, it is, after all, the eastern side of the Idaho mountains along the continental divide.
And then there's another four hundred miles of 'em going East.
