Sunrise, Sunset

(cue the song from Fiddler on the Roof)

I have posted a number of sunrise or dawn shots from my balcony, but I don't often get much color from the sunsets since I face east. Thought I'd share these two, because I was struck by the similarity in the pastel palettes, with the sunset shot offering a more gentle feeling in the softer tones at the end of the day.

Maybe it's just me, but I would have thought the opposite of which one was sunrise and which one was sunset, if you hadn't labeled them! Weird, huh!

and oranges. Very strong colors, especially in winter. The pastel palette at dawn is much more unusual.

The sunset shot is looking northeast. I can't see west from my apartment. But I've found that often when in an open area looking at either a sunrise or sunset, if you turn around and look the opposite direction, you'll see softer shades of color in the sky than where the sun is rising or setting.

and by the way I just saw Fiddler on the Roof last weekend in Ft Lauderdale and the backdrop for the wedding scene as they sang Sunrise Sunset looked a lot like your top photo! (Actually, your photo was much prettier)
