Interesting Photo Site I Just Bumped Into

Seven by Five

http://www.sevenbyfive.net/

There are quite a few times that you click on a site only to wish you could get that time back, this site isn't one of them, in fact I've been delightfully lost in it for the past couple of hours, it has a pretty inspired mix of photographer profiles, photos, techniques and blog posts.

Some Highlights:

Monochrome Through Color

I love B&W and the possibilities beyond simply hitting the "Convert to B&W" button and calling it a day, adjusting the color image first has always been an important part of my B&W workflow.

Behind a Photograph: An Eye, Beyond a Result: An Intention

A perfect example of why rules were made to be broken and that you really need to please yourself first.

OK this is just genius, plain and simple.

That site made me aware of the 15-day free trial of NIK Silver Efex Pro2, worth the visit all on its own. I'm experimenting with it now and will probably purchase the software.

Thanks for the link.

There's no better B&W add-on, I also use Nik's Viveza 2 to fine tune color before I use Silver Efex.

What really sets Nik apart is their use of control points, a lot of adjustments I use to have to mask I can just drop a point, it's been a huge time saver.

Now I have to dig out the manual to see where that info is.

And I would like to add, read the manual more than once. I read it when I first get the camera. Then I read again every so often. it's amazing what new things you find each time you read it.
