As you know I get to go to the Southern Most Spot periodically, and it's a home away from home. This year wherever I go I am in need of asking people if they are going to vote, and gauge the response. ALL BUT ONE of many gave me the correct feel of a response, which resulted at times in good conversation. The one holdout said she was going to vote, but she also gave the impression it was not a vote I wanted to happen. To me that is wonderful odds. The photos are nothing but a few today in a walk about in 86 degree heat. And nothing very special. The upload is mind numbingly slow where I am. Enjoy looking.

Mira
(22,380 posts)that is absolutely beautiful if you forget moral judgment about what mercenary folk have tried to made of it for survival needs to cater to the populace at large.
Thanks for liking my low-key visuals. I've brought a 20 year old niece here, who has never been to the USofA, and thank goodness she is loving it, and as she shakes her head gets her mind expanded. It was too windy today but hopefully we can go tomorrow and take to the sky from a boat in a harness with the big umbrella over us. I forget what it's called. Will tell you about it then.

Mira
(22,380 posts)YES - I encourage you to take the trip.
The Keys are like a second home to me, so if you want to talk about coming down here save my DU ID and ask. I drive down from NC, some of the time. Not such a big deal.
Have you seen any Hemingway cats ?
six toes and all.

(4,907 posts)One of the oldest bars on the island, the original Sloppy Joe's. This is the bar Hemingway hung out at when he lived in Key West in the 1930s.

(4,907 posts)First, thanks for sharing the pics of my home town. Capt Tony's (place with the dollar bills and bras) was one of my haunts back in the 1980s along with Dirty Harry's (was just around the corner on Duval).
Have fun!

(22,380 posts)The people are friendly, happy, laid back. Everybody is enjoying themselves because most are tourists, and the natives are appreciative of the tourists, or pretend to be.
Today we went back to go parasailing. For the second day in a row the winds were too strong, so I'll probably post some new pictures. Capt. Tony's is so much fun....

Tomorrow through alligator alley and an airboat ride to Sarasota, to check in with friends.
And keep on having fun. Never have been to Key West, but would love to go.
