I have decided to cast my lot in with Smugmug.

I have successfully signed up and uploaded a few photos.

Can anyone give me a basic tutorial on how to navigate the site? I am a bit lost.

Looks like Postimage has gone belly up and I am tired of trying to get my photos onto the site. One of the ones I posted here has disappeared from my thread. That is unacceptable.

I have a 14 day free account with Smugmug and so I want to get used to it before that's over.

Thanks in advance!

1. I use 'postimage.org' everyday. Today. All the pictures from months ago are still here.

What makes you think they went belly up?

4. I have Adblock Plus, free service. You might try.

Every ad of every type can be blocked/shut down (options for sites you want to support or 'whitelist', or user-friendly ads can be allowed at homepage start or as option at anytime).

I turned off Adblock at Postimage and some pretty aggressive ads/commercials came on - surprised me since I never see ads! This may be what your malware is identifying?

If you only need what Postimage or Imgur do, you might test Adblock Plus. (I'm at 850,000 ads blocked already! - it gives you a running page count and all-time total).

3. I just used Post image yesterday

to help elleng get her photo submitted for the contest. No problem.

I have been using imgur, which is free, since Photobucket changed their rules last year. Used Post image for awhile but decided to switch to imgur because they have some editing tools similar to what was available on Photobucket. You might want to try imgur before you pay for smugmug.

5. I don't use these photo hosting sites to edit my photos.

I have a simple photoshop program in my computer that I use and it works well.

BTW, I just checked elleng's entry and my computer cannot see it. This is exactly what happened to mine with Postimage yesterday. I don't know what's going on with that site, but I'm done trying to access it and to upload my photos onto it.

Smugmug has a very basic program for people like me, who just want to have a place to store their photos for 3rd party sharing. I'm going to sign up with that.

6. There are two other entries hosted on postimage. Do you not see them, either?

They are post # 3 and #8.

This could be just your computer, or, it could be a wider problem. If it's a wider problem, I need to know so I can ask the entrants to switch their entries to another photo hosting site for the contest.

9. Have you tried deleting cookies from postimages on your computer?

I was doing some research and apparently back in April they were locked out of their .org domain by the registry. Found this info:

Notice: For any users using Postimage.org to host pictures in their posts ,they have posted this notice.

postimg.ORG domain is locked by Registry, no prior notice.
While we hope to resolve the issue, we chose postimg.CC as our new home.
Please update codes embedded in your websites.

Your pictures are still there, but any pics links you posted you have to change the .org in the link to .cc to get them to show again.

You can go to this link to see an example of how to make the change. That would allow you to recover photos you had posted prior to their lockout, although it would be a tedious process to go through and correct the links if you have many of them.

http://www.ballreviews.com/comments-and-suggestions/notice-for-any-users-using-postimageorg-to-host-pictures-in-their-posts-t316196.0.html

Since the other two photos were posted BEFORE you were working on postimages yesterday--while the one from elleng was posted yesterday--I'm just wondering if the cookies are somehow responsible for you not being able to see her photo.

(All three of the posted photos have the new cc code in the links.)
