In about 3 weeks, my husband and I are going to Germany to see some old friends and we will be doing very similar touring in Germany.
(I sent you a friend request! I use my real name there, but I think you'll recognize me. )

(109 posts)After spending most of my long life DREAMING or returning to my French roots, a daughter of mine - who happens to be getting married tonight - and her faincee made it possible a couple of years ago to spend a fabulous 8 days in Paris and in northeastern France. Cindy, Kathleen Gallo, and I took lots of pictures and posted several albums of only the best pictures on the web, along with some narratives to make it possible for others to better appreciate what we experienced first hand :

(19,459 posts)We are headed over for Spain and France at the end of summer, and your photos make me anxious to go!
Maybe you could answer a question for me: Do you have any concerns with traveling with your camera equipment in Europe?
I recall that you have been to Barcelona because you gave me some very nice advice on things to do there (we are going to make that trek to Montserrat via the cog train, and visit a winery at the top for a local food and wine pairing).
My concern about my gear is simply a fear of getting jacked. I'm in my early 60's, not an imposing figure, and I've read some troubling things about theft in Barcelona.

(18,646 posts)I think you'd better be more concerned about your wallet, cash, passport. Get one of those inside-your-pants-around-the-waist belt things. I don't use one but when you hear the metro announce to watch for pickpockets...

(31,390 posts)He used to live there.
I'm going to be in Barcelona for a couple of days prior to embarking on a cruise toward the end of July. I don't plan on walking around by myself, but going with groups for everything and taking taxis (not the metro) to meet up with the groups.
I've never had a problem taking the underground in London by myself or the metro in Paris or the subway in NY, but I feel at home in all those cities. This will be my first time in Barcelona.

The couple in the open window is my favorite.

(18,646 posts)I got home and examined it closely on a good computer. Classic! It could be from the 'Honeymooners' (en francais, of course!)
And while I abhor graffiti (and there was that there, too) I loved the street art. And Marseille encourages/regulates it, I believe.

(22,380 posts)No problems viewing them. I'm thrilled with the quality of what you are presenting and what you have experienced.
It makes me feel like I'm there with you, and shows me an area I have never been.
Thank you so much!
