still kicking, still shooting (extreme photo dump)

the long, cold, dark of winter has finally broken and i've been able to get out and tromp about with the camera. things are still pretty rough for me but being able to get out of the house the last two weekends has really lifted my spirits. i know i'm not around anymore, but i still think of you guys often

decided to spend earth day at devils tower

that sculpture is the circle of sacred smoke. it was done by a japanese artist as part of a project of his to place sculptures at sacred places around the world





and yesterday took me to the badlands (almost got blown off the interstate on the way there) and it was breathtaking









and, of course, had to stop at wall drug on the way there

9. I had been to Devil's Tower several times as a kid

on trips to visit family out west.

When the movie came out and I saw it for the first time, I had the same reaction as Richard Dreyfuss' character when he sculpts the mash potatoes. "I know this. I know what this is! This means something. This is important."
