This is the Ponte della Maddalena over the river Serchio, near Lucca, Italy (where the Rolling Stones played last week!). It's also called the Devil's Bridge. It was important for pilgrims coming from France going to Rome. I did just learn that the leftmost arch was added in the 1900s to accommodate a railroad bed but the rest of the bridge is original from the 1100s.

(18,644 posts)Allegedly (AKA made up!) the devil said he'd build the bridge but he'd have to have, in return, the soul of the first to cross it. So they sent a dog. Poor dog!

(19,459 posts)The reflection in the water reminds me of a bridge in the old medieval town of Amberg, Germany, where I was stationed in the mid-1970's. It was referred to as "The Spectacles" because of the reflection.

It is a beautiful town.

Have you been to Amberg in your travels?
BTW, it appears that we share a first name.

(18,644 posts)I have only traveled in Bavaria a bit: Munich, Garmish, Oberammergau, etc. Need to go.
Curt is short for Curtis. We're the best!
