It did nice things for the yard.
Front porch flowers.
And the irises really took off.

(19,459 posts)I need to post a shot of the wisteria; it's the most prolific bloom in the 25 years we've lived here.

(19,459 posts)All the rain we've had up here at our half of the state has really brought out the blooms.
I've been enjoying your photos with your new camera.

(19,459 posts)I've enjoyed looking at them.
I love to garden. My wife actually likes mowing the lawn. We have fun.

(19,459 posts)My wife also loves irises. We have an iris farm about 15 miles from here, and we are regular customers.

(86,646 posts)So colorful and in full bloom! Our iris are about 8-10 weeks behind. I just finally started my gradening on the 8th and we still might get some snow in the next 7-8 weeks yet. My seedlings are already up in their pots, I hope I can put them out soon.
Those pictures are beauteeful!

(19,459 posts)But the weather people promise us 80's by the weekend. I'm ready for the warm weather, but I wouldn't mind if it rained a bit this summer.
Good luck with the gardening.

(86,646 posts)It is getting warmer here and we should be actually waiting until into May to start but things are changing around here so... The lilies are half way there already.
We are getting some rain but being situated in a large, long valley between really big mountains, it often missed the middle where we are. It could be a nice wet summer, ya never know around here. I just know that I have to plant with a constant potential for high winds.
Love your yard! Mine won't be so manicured looking but I'll have a bunch of food all summer!

(19,459 posts)It's not nearly so manicured back there.

(86,646 posts)I'm in ranch country now, I had to come down (in elevation) out of the high mountains due to demographic transition in that area... so it's wide open country any human improvements are rough hewn and isolated. But I can grow all kinds of stuff that wouldn't grow up around 7,000ft.

(22,380 posts)because my breath got taken away.
These are so grasp-ably wonderful, the colors are popping! My favorite is the third one. I would crop that one a touch different to put the right red hot petal in the dead center.

(19,459 posts)My Nikon is a crop sensor D7100. I've usually got it paired with a 17-55mm f/2.8 DX lens. They make a pretty nice combo when I can get things right. Used Lightroom for the processing.
I've been having trouble gauging color. I meant these to be saturated, but I am working on a new laptop and I'm having some trouble calibrating color and brightness.
Looking forward to your South African adventure images.

(205,467 posts)Made my day a little brighter... We've had a lot of rain, too - but at least it's melted all the snow.
