Why haven't I ever posted here?!

Hello! I don't know how introductions are done here but I guess I should introduce my experience and equipment?

My name is retrowire and I am a former filmmaker. I specialized in writing, producing and directing. On the side, I know photography techniques and I practice them but I've never invested in the best equipment. After all, our cell phone cameras are capable of amazing things these days.

But my equipment consists of:
-CANON SD14500IS Digital ELPH
-Moto X 2016 model Smartphone
-An old Exacta VX II that was formerly the property of a spy in my family. I'll post more about that soon!

I haven't produced film since my college days, but I regularly am taking photos of whatever I find beautiful. And because I consider myself an artist of mixed mediums, I'm prone to editing my photos abstractly until they take on a more digital form.

You can see some of my photography work at my blog: www.hypercyclingblogdisorder.com

Some of it edited, some of it untouched.

But yeah, that's me! I think I'll use this group as motivation to refurbish my old Exacta! Anyone got experience with cleaning the mirrors inside of an old camera AND where do you go to get real film developed these days?

There's a number of places you can get film developed, assuming your Exacta is 35mm. Fujifilm still does prepaid mailers for slide film. Illford still does prepaid mailers for B&W film. Those two options aren't bad. For more personalized services a number of professional labs will do film development, drum scanning, and all sorts of custom dark room stuff.

It's packed up right now though.

I can't wait to see what I can do with it. It's a beautiful camera. Look at it!

I don't have one that old, but I do still have my old Nikon FM2 and a Bronica medium format.

Not sure if yours has a light meter, but you may not want to trust it at least at first anyway. I use my digital camera as my light meter.

Bellows are fun to play with although I haven't messed with any for decades.
