and everyone will know how old many of us are (like me, with a song from the mid 60's)!

I had fully planned to go with a shot I took over the weekend--ha, another '60's song from Joni Mitchell "Song to a Seagull"--
but for some reason Elusive Butterfly started running through my head last night. So..I took a look at some of the butterfly shots
from our trip to Victoria and decided to go with the one I submitted instead.

Elusive Butterfly has been covered by a lot of artists. I think my favorite is the Johnny Mathis version in 1966.

Anyway, here is "Song to a Seagull" shot out our hotel window in New Haven. The gull is perched on one of the buildings on the Yale campus.

the sharp divide the seagull is perched on very much. I must get busy and decide.

I decided to go with the butterfly because of the lyrics: we all need more love, IMHO.

Elusive Butterfly

You might wake up some mornin'
To the sound of something moving past your window in the wind
And if you're quick enough to rise
You'll catch a fleeting glimpse of someone's fading shadow
Out on the new horizon
You may see the floating motion of a distant pair of wings
And if the sleep has left your ears
You might hear footsteps running through an open meadow

Don't be concerned, it will not harm you
It's only me pursuing somethin' I'm not sure of
Across my dreams with nets of wonder
I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love

You might have heard my footsteps
Echo softly in the distance through the canyons of your mind
I might have even called your name
As I ran searching after something to believe in
You might have seen me runnin'
Through the long-abandoned ruins of the dreams you left behind
If you remember something there
That glided past you followed close by heavy breathin'

Don't be concerned, it will not harm you
It's only me pursuing somethin' I'm not sure of
Across my dreams with nets of wonder
I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love

Let me add that these were taken several years ago on a trip to Guatemala and I only had an 8 megapixel point and shoot camera at the time. I have recently bought a new Nikon D3300 camera and start learning to use my new camera and taking more like these.

I had the D5100, and now have the D7100. I think Nikon makes great crop sensor cameras. And I've heard good things about the D3300.
