My oldest son and his partner are doing a cross country road trip--for a month--leaving this Saturday.
My son is the "driver" and his partner is the "photographer".
They will keep friends/family updated with a journal on tumblr.
Mike has already started posting about well known photographers he's researched--Walker Evans and Ansel Adams so far--
as part of his trip preparation.
If anyone is interested in following them http://gearsandgrain.tumblr.com/

(22,380 posts)to ask about the second photo: that is not one your son's partner took, am I right? It's an Ansel Adams, surely. The Grand Tetons, maybe, the weather surely. It must be Ansel Adams.
Anyway, dear Manhattan Baby, (forgive me, but I just love that acronym for your "name"
you're not that far from Winston-Salem, where we have an exhibit going of Anselm Adams work, at the gallery adjoining our famous "Reynolda House" the house that RJReynolds built with tobacco money and now it is a museum and art gallery.

I wish the two men a spectacularly happy trip full of vistas and experiences that will mold the rest of their lives.

(31,392 posts)Mike has a degree in Photography and does a lot of work in B&W.
He mentions in the blog that he's interested in signs and will be photographing
signs along the way of their trip, looking for the differences as signs have
changed from Walker Evans' day. They plan to go see the Neon Museum
when they are in Las Vegas, too.
Thanks for mentioning the exhibit. I will send the link to Mike in case he hasn't
heard about it. They are leaving tomorrow, but I notice the exhibit is through July.

Which is about three hours south of where I live!
I kind of still looks the same but there are trophy homes in the scene now.
Nice shots, probably won't get to see the exhibit but I love the artists!
